Live Well Stay Well

WA Country Health Service in March is launching a new approach to weight loss through their Live Well program. “Live Well defies a traditional dieting approach.” says Rebecca Sparrowhawk, dietician and one of the programs creators. “Instead, we look at several different aspects of a person’s life that may lead to weight gain such as cooking skills, stress management and exercise.”

Over the 12 week program a group of qualified professionals will work with participants assisting them to achieve their healthy lifestyle goals. “We know that people tend to be more successful at losing weight if they are part of a group, so Live Well brings together a group of like-minded people so that they can support each other” says Ms Sparrowhawk.

The innovative program will promise to introduce participants to the secrets of a healthy lifestyle and includes a supermarket tour where the group will learn how to negotiate the sometimes challenging job of grocery shopping. “The supermarket tour will be great fun. We find that a lot of people really dislike the shopping experience, the sheer number of choice can be overwhelming, but we will reveal how to decipher food labels so that smart choices can be made.” says Ms Sparrowhawk.

Live Well begins on March 24 and the program sessions run on Wednesday, every fortnight over a 12 week period. The program caters for all groups, participants can choose to attend a 9am-11am or 5.30pm – 7.30pm session.
