Insomnia is difficulty falling asleep and/or staying asleep.
Lack of sleep can have a range of consequences from being grumpy and tired the next day to clumsiness and forgetfulness. It is also related to developing depression and can cause other medical conditions to worsen. Research has shown that it has a similar effect to alcohol when driving a car.
Midwest Population Health and Womens Health Services are presenting a free videoconference on insomnia for rural and remote women. It will be held on Thursday, March 22nd, 2007 at 7pm. Several health sites across the Midwest including Dongara and Geraldton will be linking into the session.
Venues: Dongara Health Service
Geraldton – Community Health Building Shenton St
This presentation will look at the causes of insomnia and will cover a range of practical things to do to help you get better sleep. It will also look at ways of breaking the habit of associating going to bed with being wakeful.
Dianne Rickman, Psychologist from Womens Health Services, will be providing practical techniques on how to deal with insomnia.
