Northampton Situated 475km north of Perth and 52km north of Geraldton, this area is steeped in historical significance, from Aboriginal cave paintings to the various buildings constructed by convicts in the 19th century. The shire of Northampton has a population of 3,180 and encompasses the townships of Port Gregory, Horrocks Beach, Binnu, Ajana, Isseka, Kalbarri, and Northampton. The shire’s main local industries include wheat, sheep, fishing, crayfish, mineral sands mining, tourism and horticulture. Northampton hosts several significant local events throughout the year including the Northampton Agricultural Show and the Airing of the Quilts. Among the shire's varied tourist attractions are the gorges in the Kalbarri National Park, the pink lake (Hutt Lagoon) near Port Gregory, Lynton convict hiring station ruins, Chiverton House Museum, Warribanno Chimney, and the Geraldine Lead Mine.
